Grant of Probate
A Grant of Probate is necessary to carry out the instructions in the will, which includes the distribution of the deceased’s assets to his specified beneficiaries. The person appointed by the deceased (as specified in the will), has to make an application for this court order.
If the deceased did not leave a will behind, a Grant of Letters of Administration is required in order to start administering their estate. Their next-of-kin has to apply to the court for this legal document.
